i wholeheartedly defend freedom of religion and respect those who wish to practice it in their own way; the Founding Fathers knew what they were doing there - Ben Franklin’s own early years taught him enough lessons regarding the tyranny of the church, and those lesson translated well into the drafting of the Constitution.
what it seems too many people don’t understand is that “freedom of religion” does NOT mean freedom for religion to do whatever it wants, but instead for it not to unduly affect (or infect) the civil nature of the government at any level.
thus, does it not violate the Constitution when a church or religious figure becomes active in politics whether it be through word or deed (to include founding or funding certain political organizations)?
Freedom of Religion?
