Bloomberg defends decision to hold New York City Marathon

New York TimesNew York Mayor Michael M. Bloomberg defended his decision to hold the New York City Marathon on Sunday despite backlash as the city recovers from Sandy.

“If you go back to 9/11, Rudy made the right decision in those days to run the marathon, and pull people together,” Bloomberg said. He said the marathon’s organizers were “running this race to help New York City, and the  donations from all the runners in the club will be a great help for our relief efforts.”

totally agree; i spent all of my childhood on the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast, including New Orleans, and i have lost everything i owned before.  you get up and get back to what you were doing.  in this case, you keep running.
